With over 30 years of cooking experience, Sterling’s passion for cooking outdoors has led him to have his hand in almost every aspect of the barbecue world. As the head cook of the Big Poppa Smokers BBQ Team, he has won 42 Grand Championship titles and 36 Reserve GC titles. Sterling has also created and developed the award-winning Big Poppa Seasoning line, which have been used to win every major BBQ competition including 7 out of the last 8 American Royal Championships. They are also used across multiple menu items for BJ’s Brewhouse Restaurants in over 200 of their locations across the country.
